Fort Peck Dam Interpretive Center & Museum, on SR 24, adjacent to the powerhouses, offers exhibits depicting the fauna of the Charles M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge, along with information about the history of the Fort Peck Dam & Lake. A cast of Peck's Rex, a Tyrannosaurus rex specimen found in the area, is on display. A cretaceous sea exhibit features several ocean species hanging from the ceiling; other exhibits spotlight a struthiomimus and an edmontosaur. Two large aquariums housing native and game fish of Fort Peck Lake and the Missouri River can be seen.

A children's discovery area offers hands-on displays for kids. Interpretive programs and theater presentations are available in summer.
