Historic Rosedale Plantation is at 3427 N. Tryon St. Built by merchant Archibald Frew in 1815, Rosedale is considered to be one of the state's finest examples of Federal architecture. The plantation home is noted for its original French wallpaper, faux grained woodwork and picturesque grounds with a boxwood garden, mature trees and reconstructed blacksmith shop. Guides focus on the lifestyles and arts of the 19th-century Catawba River Valley region.

The home can only be seen on a guided tour.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.

Grounds free. Guided house or garden tour $10; $8 (ages 65+ and grades K-12 with ID).
Grounds open Tues.-Fri. 9:30-3:30, Sat. 11:30-4, Sun. 1-4, mid-Apr. through Sept. 30; Tues.-Fri. 9:30-3:30, Sat.-Sun. 1-4, rest of year. Guided house tours depart Thurs.-Sun. at 1:30 and 3 (also Wed. at 1:30 and Sat. at 11, Apr.-Sept.). A garden tour is offered Wed. at 12:30, Apr.-Sept. Closed major holidays.
