Great Platte River Road Archway Monument/not available
AAA Editor Notes
The Archway is at 3060 E. First St., 6 mi. w. of SR 10/Kearney East Bypass. The pioneers' westward journey along the Great Platte River Road is re-created with a variety of interactive exhibits that allow visitors to join a wagon train and experience a prairie crossing, a buffalo stampede and a stopover at a frontier fort.

Built across I-80, today's busiest east-west highway, the archway also pays tribute to America's freedom of mobility. Other depictions include the Mormon Trail, the Pony Express, a harrowing stagecoach ride, completion of the transcontinental railroad, early tourist cabins along the Lincoln Highway and establishment of the interstate highway system. The Archway campus also features a Pawnee earth lodge sod house and interactive human maze.

Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
