AAA Editor Notes
Arthur Bowring Sandhills Ranch State Historical Park is 1.5 mi. n. on SR 61, then 1.5 mi. e. on a gravel road following signs. The park encompasses a 7,200-acre working cattle ranch and living-history museum. It was established in 1894 by pioneering rancher Arthur Bowring and his second wife, former U.S. Sen. Eve Bowring, who maintained the Bar 99 Ranch until her death in 1985.

The ranch house, visitor center and sod house contain displays devoted to the Bowrings' lives and careers. The house tour focuses on the time when Eve was a senator, a member of the U.S. Board of Parole and a rancher. Former Sen. Bowring's glassware, china and silver collections are especially noteworthy. In the visitor center are antique ranch and farm equipment, a windmill display and an exhibit explaining the history and geology of the Sandhills. A film features the Bowrings and describes ranching life in the Sandhills.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
