The Mob Museum, National Museum of Organized Crime & Law Enforcement is at 300 Stewart Ave. A variety of interactive exhibits, films and high-tech audio displays are showcased in this restored neoclassical building, the former federal courthouse where some of the Kefauver Committee organized crime hearings took place in the 1950s. The collection explores the history of the Mob in Vegas; how this criminal network was brought down by raids, arrests and indictments; and the Mob's portrayal in movies, books and pop culture. The Prohibition era is brought back to life at The Underground, a speakeasy with its own distillery in the basement of the museum.
Visitors get an up-close look at such infamous figures as Al Capone, Bugsy Siegel and John Gotti. Also offered are depictions of men like Eliot Ness and J. Edgar Hoover, who worked tirelessly to bring mobsters to justice.
Audio tours are available in English, French, German, Italian, Mandarin, Portuguese and Spanish.
