Pahrump Valley Museum is at 401 E. Basin Ave. near S. Blagg Rd. En route to California, '49ers passed through Pahrump, which was then a watering hole on the Old Spanish Trail. The museum covers the town's history, showcasing exhibits about mining, farming, politics, education and Native Americans. The Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Repository exhibit includes scale models of drilling rig equipment and interactive displays about the history of nuclear testing in the Nevada desert.

Antique vehicles and furniture also are displayed. Several restored outbuildings are open to the public.

Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
