The Fells Historic Estate and Gardens is 2.2 mi. n. on SR 103A. The Fells, which overlooks Lake Sunapee, was the early 20th-century summer estate of three generations of the Hay family. John M. Hay, a diplomat and writer, served as President Abraham Lincoln's private secretary and secretary of state under presidents William McKinley and Theodore Roosevelt. The estate includes a 22-room house; a rock garden with more than 600 varieties of alpine plants; nature trails for hiking and snowshoeing; and period gardens with roses, rhododendrons and azaleas.

Pets are not permitted.
