Tear of Grief Memorial is off New Jersey Tpke. exit 14A, 1 mi. s. on SR 440S, then e. on Port Terminal Blvd. to Harbor View Park at Bayonne Harbor. Also known as “To the Struggle Against World Terrorism” and locally as The Teardrop, the monument pays homage to those who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C., as well as to the victims of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.
The 100-foot-tall rectangular bronze monument, a gift from Russia designed by artist Zurab Tsereteli, has a fissure in its center in which a teardrop is suspended. The names of those who perished in the attacks are engraved on the memorial's base.
Note: The monument is in an isolated waterfront warehouse area.
