Albany Institute of History & Art is at 125 Washington Ave. From Colonial history to contemporary art, permanent and changing exhibits explore the art, culture and history of the upper Hudson Valley region. Collections include Hudson River School landscapes, early Dutch limner portraits and 18th- and 19th-century New York furniture, sculpture, ceramics and decorative arts. The museum also houses an Egyptian collection and a research library.
