Fenton History Center Museum & Research Center is at 67 Washington St. (SR 60), just s. of Washington St. bridge. The 1863 Italianate mansion of former New York Gov. Reuben E. Fenton features a restored Renaissance Revival drawing room, rooms depicting the Victorian and settlement periods of Jamestown, changing topical exhibits and a reference/genealogy research center. Also of interest are the Chautauqua Lake, Lucy, Chautauqua County Underground Railroad and Swedish Heritage rooms. An annual holiday exhibit highlights historic and ethnic observances and celebrations.
