A constant stream of tourists and locals alike make this casual brasserie one of my absolute go-to spots in SoHo to feel the daily pulse of the city.

Classic. A favorite downtown destination and place to see and be seen since the 1990s, this traditional brasserie feels soothingly warm and wholly authentic decades after opening its doors. Classic decor touches abound, with pressed-tin ceilings towering over a cavernous Art Deco space. Savory and flavorful French comfort foods such as grilled chicken paillard, moules, onion soup gratinee, steak frites, salad Nicoise and bouillabaisse provide few surprises, but much reassurance that life is beautiful.
