AAA Inspector Notes
Classic Historic. The high-style restaurant inside the Chatwal Hotel takes its name from the landmark original building, once the headquarters of the Lambs— the prestigious professional theatrical club founded in late 19th-century New York. The menu is part Continental, with some American bistro selections, smartly following a roadmap of upscale hotel dining. Dry-aged steaks, specialty pastas, scallops with bacon, salmon in beurre blanc sauce and veal Milanese are among the standout pre-theater dinner offerings. The dining room really creates a highly memorable profile, as it includes a massive French limestone fireplace which evokes a manor house from Europe of centuries past. While highly popular as a spot for a vogue pre-theater dinner or swank brunch, the bustling venue excels during the daytime as a “see-and-be-seen” business lunch destination for executives from the nearby elite professional firms and media corporations. The bar and the dining room on the mezzanine can nicely accommodate small groups.
