It's no secret to Gotham's serious diners that Staten Island has some of the best traditional, old-school Italian restaurants in the city. Bocelli is quite possibly the best at daily crafting an expertly prepared seafood menu and meat specialties. Located in a fairly typical Staten Island mini-mall, the ornate, rich Italianate interior décor is not typical by any means and nicely fits the classic cuisine. I recommend the freshly made specials, including an incredible weekend-only ossobuco. Service is engaged in the dining experience and will steer the diner as to what are the real gems on the menu. Expect the executive chef-owner to come out from the kitchen and warmly work the room.
