Willowwood Arboretum

Willowwood Arboretum is 3 mi. s. on US 206, .4 mi. w. on Spring Lake Dr., .3 mi. s. on Bamboo Ln., then .2 mi. e. to 300 Longview Rd. The 130-acre of rolling farmland, designed in 1908 by brothers Henry and Robert Tubbs, contains 3,500 native and exotic plants. In addition to virgin forest, one can find oak, maple, willow, magnolia, lilac, cherry, fir, pine and a dawn redwood (Metasequoia) now more than 98 feet tall. Other sights include ferns as well as wildflowers.

Both wild and cultivated plantings can be seen on self-guiding tours; pick up a map with a list of identified trees at the parking lot.

Note: Dogs and horses are not permitted.

Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
