Salmonier Nature Park

Salmonier Nature Park, 12 km (7 mi.) s. of jct. hwys. 1 and 90, is a nature and wildlife preserve. About 40 hectares (100 acres) of the 1,200-hectare (2,965-acre) preserve have been developed for public exhibitions. A boardwalk nature trail links many large enclosures where native mammals and birds—many of which have been rescued and wouldn't survive in the wild—can be seen. The trail is about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi.) long; allow 1 hour minimum for the complete hike.

Trained staff members provide programs that include movies, puppet shows and interpretive theater presentations relating to the province's natural history.

Note: Though the trail is accessible by stroller and wheelchair, visitors may find it difficult to use wheelchairs that are not power-operated or rugged.

Picnicking is permitted.
