Las Vegas National Wildlife Refuge is 6 mi. s.e. via SRs 104 and 281. Covering 8,672 acres of prairie bordered by the timbered canyons of the Gallinas River and Vegosa Creek, the refuge has more than 300 species of wildlife and is noted for its birds of prey. In season, bald eagles, hawks and kestrels are seen. Brochures, an auto loop map and nature-trail permits are available at the refuge office.

Allow 1 hour minimum for the driving tour, 2 hours minimum for the nature trail.
