AAA Inspector Notes
Artisan food meets quick-serve operation at this popular spot. Just about everything is made in house, from the mayo to the buns to the hot dogs. The chefs even cure their own bacon, and the beer is brewed on site. The local beef is pasture-raised, and all produce comes from local farmers. Even the interior is cobbled together from recycled pieces. That all adds up to make a unique burger joint. Step up to the counter to order your hamburger, hot dog or veggie burger topped the way you like it. The patties are cooked to order, so if you don't want yours medium-rare, make sure you say so. Sides include skin-on fries cooked in peanut oil, sweet potato fries, and skinny fries finished in duck fat. You won't find Coke or Pepsi here; high fructose corn syrup is verboten. Instead, the sodas are Puck's, made from cane sugar. The small café fills up at peak meal times, and seating is often communal at the long tables. The patio is heated for year-round use.
