Halifax Public Gardens are bounded by South Park, Sackville and Summer streets and Spring Garden Rd. Covering 7 hectares (17 acres), the gardens opened in 1867. They are considered to be the only surviving public Victorian gardens in North America. Tree-shaded gravel walks wind among the flower beds, fountains, ponds and shrubs. Concerts and guided tours are available.

Bringing pets, cycling, jogging and smoking in the gardens are prohibited.

Food is available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
