Nevada Museum of Art, 2 blks. w. of Virginia St. at 160 W. Liberty St., highlights national and international artists, past and present. The permanent collection, with more than 2,500 artworks, relates to themes of the land, the environment and the greater West. Traveling exhibits also are featured.

The museum has helped produce “Seven Magic Mountains” by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone. This land-based desert installation debuted May 2016 in Henderson, about 10 miles south of the junction of Las Vegas Boulevard and St. Rose Parkway. It features seven columns of brightly painted boulders.

Guided tours are available. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
