Wildlife Conservation Society's Bronx Zoo, off the Bronx River Pkwy. at exit 6/Fordham Rd., displays more than 6,000 animals in naturalistic indoor and outdoor habitats on 265 wooded acres. Congo Gorilla Forest, a 6.5-acre simulated African rain forest, is home to one of the largest gorilla troops in a North American zoo plus such endangered or threatened species as Wolf's guenon monkeys, mandrills, okapis and hornbills.

At Tiger Mountain visitors can learn about Siberian and Malayan tigers. JungleWorld is an indoor replica of an Asian rainforest with gibbons, langur monkeys, bats and other wildlife. The Butterfly Garden is home to many species of North American butterflies and features interactive exhibits, meandering paths and a flowering meadow.
