AAA Editor Notes
Brooklyn Bridge Park stretches 1.3 mi. along Brooklyn’s East River edge and spans from the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges in the north to Pier 6 and Atlantic Avenue in the south. Visitors will enjoy spectacular views of the lower Manhattan skyline just across the East River as well as both bridges.
This 85-acre green space has amazing playgrounds, beach volleyball courts, kayak and canoe launches, basketball and handball courts, a roller rink and concessions from Brooklyn’s best eateries. One of the highlights of the park is Jane’s Carousel, a painstakingly restored carousel from 1922 housed in an acrylic box that shields riders from the elements and admits sunshine, creating a winter-garden effect when it’s cold.
There are lawns, bicycle paths, bicycle rentals, playgrounds, water gardens, fishing stations, grilling stations, sports fields (soccer, lacrosse, rugby, flag football and ultimate Frisbee), volleyball courts, dog runs and a variety of free public events. A free guided walking tour of Pier 1 is offered.
Guided tours are available. Pet friendly (call for restrictions/fees.). Recreational activities are permitted. Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
