Conservatory Garden is between 104th and 106th sts. on the east side of Central Park. Three gardens fashioned after Italian, French and English gardens comprise the 6-acre Conservatory Garden. Enter through the 1894 Vanderbilt Gate, which once graced the entrance to the Vanderbilt mansion, demolished in 1926. Magnolia and lilac trees adorn the English garden, along with a charming “Secret Garden”-esque statue honoring author Frances Hodgson Burnett. To the north lies the Italian garden, featuring crabapple and yew trees in addition to a large fountain and a wisteria-draped pergola. The French garden offers spring tulips in abundance and contains Walter Schott's sculpture, “Three Dancing Maidens.”
