Hamilton Grange National Memorial is in St. Nicholas Park, between Convent and St. Nicholas aves., at 414 W. 141st St. Built as a country retreat by Alexander Hamilton in 1802, the Federal-style house features period furniture, some of which belonged to the Hamilton family. A gallery highlights Hamilton's achievements. A 20-minute film chronicles the illustrious career and private life of the statesman, who was killed in a duel with Aaron Burr just two years after the house was completed. Visitors may roam the grounds, which include 13 sweet gum trees.

Note: Large bags and backpacks are not permitted.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
