AAA Editor Notes
Merchant's House Museum is at 29 E. 4th St., between Lafayette St. and the Bowery. This elegant 1832 Greek Revival town house was occupied continuously by hardware merchant Seabury Tredwell's family 1835-1933. Marble mantelpieces, mahogany pocket doors, furniture by local cabinetmakers, decorative accessories and intact personal possessions such as clothing, needlework and photographs present a composite of a prosperous 19th-century lifestyle.
