AAA Editor Notes
Studio Museum in Harlem is at 144 W. 125th St. between Lenox Ave. and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd. (7th Ave.). The museum showcases works by African American artists in changing exhibits drawn from a permanent collection of more than 1,600 paintings, drawings, prints, photographs and mixed-media compositions. Archives contain James VanDerZee's photographs chronicling life in Harlem 1906-84. Performance arts and traveling exhibitions also are offered.
