Modern modular design and incredible city views from the rooftop lounge make this Dutch-owned property on the Lower East Side a real standout. Rooms and baths might be micro but are ingeniously built. After an over 350-year absence the Dutch are back with prominence on “The Bouwerij”, or the Bowery as we call it today. Inspired design and modern tech from the Amsterdam-based hotel company CitizenM make for an impressive and artistic high-rise package, which is neither pretentious nor cookie-cutter. There is loads of 21st Century style and some really useful and well-designed tech features to round out the rooms. This is a hip, noteworthy return to Gotham for the original European New Yorkers.
