Old Bethpage Village Restoration is 1 mi. s. of Long Island Expwy. exit 48S on Round Swamp Rd. Built around a prominent local family's 165-acre homestead, this is a reconstructed pre-Civil War working farm village. Buildings moved from locations throughout Long Island reflect architectural styles dating from the early 1700s.

The village includes the Powell House and barn complex, the original family home; the Schenck House, one of the region's oldest Dutch farmhouses; the Conklin House, an English-style fisherman's cottage; the Noon Inn, a modified Georgian-style tavern; and the Greek Revival Manetto Hill church. The Layton Store doubled as a family home in the 1860s and today contains period merchandise. Costumed guides explain each building and the lifestyles of former inhabitants.

Among other activities, visitors can watch Old Time Baseball, a series of games played seasonally according to early 19th-century rules, or dance a jig while live dulcimer music plays. A 7-acre organic farm is on the premises.

Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
