Alcalá Theater

Alcalá Theater (Teatro Macedonio de Alcalá) is on Av. Independencia at Calle Armienta y Lopez, 2 blks. n.e. of the Zócalo. Built around the turn of the 20th century, the Alcalá reflects the grandiose style public buildings took under the rule of native son and dictator Porfirio Díaz. The interior in particular is impressively opulent.
