Spring Grove Cemetery & Arboretum is off I-75 exit 6, .3 mi. w. on Mitchell Ave., then .3 mi. s. to 4521 Spring Grove Ave. A National Historic Landmark, this 733-acre cemetery was founded in the 1840s and is the burial site of numerous notable persons, including governors, business leaders, Revolutionary War soldiers and Civil War generals. The grounds contain 15 lakes, a waterfall, 1,000 labeled trees and shrubs, and a 10-acre woodland. Historical information brochures and maps for a 33-stop self-guiding tour that highlights the history, art and architecture of the facility are available from the office. Special event tours are held throughout the year.
