I love the engraved brass elevator doors and marble floors. The ballroom has a vaulted gilt and plaster ceiling, high columns and brass balustrade.
AAA Inspector Notes
The public areas in this remodeled bank building are decorated with polished brass elevator doors, fluted marble walls, and white marble floors. The ballroom is opulent. Designed by architect Daniel Burnham, this imposing downtown structure opened in 1901. The public areas reflect its historic status, but the rooms represent a more modern departure from the past. With its black and white furniture and understated gray carpets, the rooms have a crisp, contemporary ambience. That ambience is particularly noteworthy in the bathrooms, which have glass showers, brilliant mirrors with a backlight, and an intriguing wallpaper design depicting an oversize human hand.
