Steamship William G. Mather is docked at Great Lakes Science Center at 601 Erieside Ave. The restored 1925 Great Lakes freighter has been preserved as a floating museum ship. Visitors can explore the historic cargo holds, four-story engine room, elegant dining rooms, galley, and the brass and oak pilothouse of this 618-foot vessel. Exhibits and introductory videos focus on the Great Lakes and the history of the Great Lakes shipping industry.
Note: Visitors should wear flat, rubber-soled shoes. Tickets can be purchased on the ship or at Great Lakes Science Center. Parking is available in the Great Lakes Science Center garage.
Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
