Toledo Zoo, 4 mi. s.w. on SR 25, is home to more than 9,000 animals representing more than 700 species of mammals, birds, fish and reptiles. Tembo Trail features elephants, rhinos, camels and meerkats along with the Hippoquarium, which offers an underwater view of a hippopotamus family. Arctic Encounter offers close-up views of polar bears and seals. At Penguin Beach you can watch the black-and-white cuties' above- and below-water antics. Flamingo Key is home to flamingos and other waterfowl, and Primate Forest houses white-cheeked gibbons, swamp monkeys, ring-tailed lemurs and more. Also featured throughout the zoo are cheetahs, Amur tigers, great apes and Asian sloth bears as well as Amazing Amphibians, an aviary and pheasantry, a reptile house, gardens, a train and two carousels.

The Aquarium area is home to rays and sharks as well as other aquatic life. Nature's Neighborhood features play activities to help children learn about nature; birds, fish, goats, guinea pigs and insects are housed here. In warmer weather visitors can experience Africa!, home to giraffes, zebras, ostriches and more. Behind-the-scenes tours of the zoo are available.
