Classic Historic. Located in the heart of German Village, in a charming, tree-lined neighborhood with red brick streets, this restaurant serves hearty fare like cabbage rolls, spaetzle and schnitzel. The Schmidt family has been in the sausage business since 1886, and the restaurant is noted for its knockwurst, bratwurst and "Bahama Mamas" (spicy sausage). Indeed, one might say their "wurst is best". Enjoy the varied selection of beers as well as desserts, including pies, strudels and cream puffs. The dining room is adorned with traditional German advertisements from the 19th century. Diners may also choose to dine from the "Autobahn Buffet," a well-stocked smorgasbord of Teutonic dishes.
