Oklahoma History Center, 800 Nazih Zuhdi Dr., showcases the state's history with its thousands of artifacts and more than 200 interactive exhibits in five galleries. Topics include aviation, commerce, culture, geology, heritage, the oil and gas industry and transportation. Major exhibits depict the history of Native American tribes living in the state and settler life during the Oklahoma land runs. Items from the 1838 steamship Heroine, excavated from the Red River, also are on display.

Outdoor sculptures, oil derricks and the .25-mile Red River Journey walking tour, which replicates the river valley and its plant life, adorn the grounds. Extensive archives and research materials, including genealogy records and newspapers, are available.

Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
