Tucker Tower Museum/Nature Center at Lake Murray

Tucker Tower Museum/Nature Center at Lake Murray is in Lake Murray State Park, 7 mi. s. on SR 77S, following signs, to 1587 Tucker Tower Rd. Tucker Tower was designed to be a governor's retreat. Instead, this 1933 medieval-style fortress loomed over Lake Murray unfinished and unused until the early 1950s, when it was converted to a museum. Displays in the nature center include part of one of the largest meteorites of its type ever discovered as well as fossils, wildlife exhibits and other artifacts.
