Route 66 Interpretive Center

Route 66 Interpretive Center is at 400 E. SR 66 at jct. Mickey Clarkson Ave. Housed in the city's National Guard Armory, built by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) 1935-37, the center is unusual in that it features beds representing motels along the historic road from which visitors can watch videos about Route 66. A 20-minute documentary film is shown in the center's theater.
Seats from a Model A, a World War II Jeep and a '65 Mustang offer vantage points from which to watch clips from each vehicle's respective era. Billboards reminiscent of those that lined Route 66 also provide a link to the past.
Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
