Museum of the Great Plains, in Elmer Thomas Park at 601 N.W. Ferris Ave., interprets the relationship between man and the plains environment. Exhibits depict the fur trade and cattle industries, the life of the frontier soldier and technological development on the plains. Replicas of a fur-trading fort and a train depot with a locomotive are displayed as well as a collection of farm machinery. The Donald W. Reynolds Great Plains Discovery Center presents a look at the people of the plains with a print shop, saddle shop, general store and other interactive displays.

Living-history programs are presented Tuesday through Saturday in the fort's trading post.
