Museum of Northern History at Sir Harry Oakes Chateau

Museum of Northern History at Sir Harry Oakes Chateau is at 2 Chateau Dr., off Hwy. 66 at the w. end of Kirkland Lake. Sir Harry was the founder of the prosperous Lake Shore Gold Mine, and as visitors tour the chateau they learn of his rags-to-riches life and his mysterious murder in the Bahamas. Pioneer life and gold mining exhibits are presented.
