Kakabeka Falls, .5 km (.31 mi.) w. on Hwy. 11/17, is on the Kaministiquia River in Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park. Kakabeka's name comes from the Ojibway word meaning “thundering waters.” Legend says an abducted Ojibway princess pretended to guide her Sioux captors to her tribe but instead guided them over the falls.

The waterfall, 71 metres (233 ft.) wide and 40 metres (131 ft.) high, is at full force in spring and fall.

Camping is permitted. Picnicking is permitted.
