AAA Editor Notes
Canadian Museum of History (Musée canadien de l'histoire) is at 100 rue Laurier. The museum, located directly across the Ottawa River from the Parliament Buildings, illustrates Canada's history from the continent's prehistoric beginnings through successive periods of migration, native settlement, exploration, fur trading, immigration and the modern era.

The First Peoples Hall and the Grand Hall contain examples of native art and totems. Life-size reconstructions such as a West Coast native village and other historic sites present a dramatic interpretation of the country's past. Other highlights include the Canadian Children's Museum, the Canadian Stamp Collection and a new Ciné+ movie theater showing 2-D and 3-D films on two seven-story-high screens and 180-degree films on the dome. There also is a full schedule of temporary exhibitions. The museum's signature gallery, Canadian History Hall, opened on July 1, 2017.

Guided tours are available. Food is available.
