Royal Ontario Museum, 100 Queen's Park at Bloor St. W. and Avenue Rd., is Canada's largest museum of science and world cultures, with more than 5 million art, archeology and science objects. The Samuel Hall Currelly Gallery serves as the orientation center. The Michael Lee-Chin Crystal, an engineering marvel consisting of five interlocking structures linked by bridges, houses several galleries.

Visitors can see more than 1,500 Egyptian objects as well as Greek and Etruscan ceramics, sculpture and metalwork and a model of the Acropolis as it was during Athens' “Golden Age.” Asian galleries feature sculptures and artwork from ancient China, Japan and Korea. European galleries boast a collection of arms and armor, with pieces dating from the Bronze Age to World War I. The First Peoples Gallery and the Canadian Decorative and Pictorial Arts Gallery highlight Canadian history and culture.

Interactive exhibits include touchable specimens and wearable armor. In the CIBC Discovery Gallery, children will enjoy touching a Hadrosaur femur bone. Nature gallery exhibits include Insects and Their Relatives, Birds, Reptiles, and Dinosaurs and Mammals.

Art Deco works, a Judaica collection and a section devoted to European decorative arts also are highlights. Films, concerts, lectures, field trips, theatrical performances and other programs as well as changing exhibits and special events are presented throughout the year.

Guided tours are available. Food is available. Time: Allow 3 hours minimum.

$20; $17 (ages 65+); $16.50 (students ages 15-25 with ID); $14 (ages 4-14); free (support person accompanying visitor who is physically impaired). Admission will increase during special exhibits. Rates may vary; phone ahead.
