Toronto Zoo is 1.6 km (1 mi.) n. of Hwy. 401 at 2000 Meadowvale Rd. The zoo's 287 hectares (710 acres) contain more than 5,000 animals representing more than 460 species in natural habitat displays. Exhibit areas include seven themed geographic regions—Indo-Malaya; Africa, featuring the Gorilla Rainforest; the Americas; Australasia, featuring live coral reef; African Savanna; Eurasia Wilds; and the Canadian Domain.
A popular way to see the zoo is aboard one of the seasonal Zoomobiles. The Discovery Zone features a Kids’ Zoo, Waterside Theatre and Splash Island water play area, available seasonally.
Stroller, wagon and wheelchair rentals are available.
Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 4 hours minimum.
