Fort Roberdeau, in Sinking Valley, 9 mi. n.e. via I-99 Bellwood exit 41 to jct. Kettle and Fort Roberdeau rds., includes a reconstruction of a Revolutionary War fort with barracks, officers' quarters, a powder magazine, a miner's cabin, a storehouse and lead smelter. Gen. Daniel Roberdeau built the original fort to supply ammunition for American forces 1778-80 and to protect local settlers during British and Native American raids. The more-than-200-acre county park also features exhibits, an education center and nature trails.

Tickets can be purchased at the Acorn Shop located in the barn.

Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
