Old Economy Village

Old Economy Village, at 270 16th St. at jct. Church St., derives its title from the town of Oekonomie, built 1824-30 by the Harmony Society, a German communal group. Comprising 6.5 acres, the village contains 17 historic structures available for touring; the restored buildings showcase collections from the society. Historic formal gardens also are featured. A visitor center offers an orientation film, permanent and changing exhibits and a Works Progress Administration (WPA) mural depicting the Harmony Society. Staff is available to answer questions.

Special events are offered throughout the year.
