Pennsbury Manor, 5 mi. s. on the Delaware River at 400 Pennsbury Memorial Rd., was the country estate of William Penn. The 43-acre historic site contains reconstructed versions of a worker's cottage, a smokehouse, a bake-and-brew house, an icehouse, a blacksmith shop, stables and the 1683 manor house. Costumed guides conduct tours of the manor; the buildings display 17th- and 18th-century artifacts. William Penn: The Seed of a Nation includes artifacts, dioramas and activities. Farm animals and formal and kitchen gardens also can be seen.

Picnicking is permitted in the pavilion.

Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
