The African American Museum in Philadelphia, n.w. corner of 7th and Arch sts., traces the history of African American culture in the Americas and throughout the world. The special achievements of people of African descent are documented through documents, drawings and multimedia presentations. Temporary exhibits feature artifacts, clothing, diaries, furniture, photographs and works of art. The exhibit Audacious Freedom: African Americans in Philadelphia 1776-1876 recounts how people of African descent contributed to the cause of civil rights in Philadelphia.
