Richard M. Nixon Environmental Education Center, on Nixon Dr. in Richard M. Nixon County Park, has 187 acres of undisturbed environment. Its goal is to conserve and preserve the area's flora and fauna and teach about the importance of our environment. A natural history museum features dioramas, interactive displays, geological specimens from the area and more than 180 mounted specimens representing 15 countries. A large collection of York County taxidermy mounts also are on display.

Dioramas represent views of the African savannah, Arctic Circle and Northern Rocky Mountains. A bird observation window, a working indoor honeybee hive, live snakes and a touch room are included. More than 6 miles of hiking trails also are on-site.
