Fundación Luis Muñoz Marín

Fundación Luis Muñoz Marín is 1.3 mi. s. on Rd. 877, Km 0.4 off Trujillo Alto Expressway in Río Piedras. Luis Muñoz Marín, the island's first democratically elected governor, is known as the “Father of Modern Puerto Rico.” After taking office in 1949, he engineered the island's unique commonwealth status with the United States. His 4-acre estate and gardens feature displays of photographs and memorabilia, a library and changing art exhibitions. Guided tours are offered by reservation. The 12-acre Doña Inés Park Arboretum features nature trails and more than 2,000 native trees and plants.
