Manoir Papineau National Historic Site (Lieu historique national du Manoir Papineau) is at 500 Notre-Dame and is accessible via the Montebello Tourist Information Office on Hwy. 148. Prominent political figure Louis-Joseph Papineau built the three-story manor house on the wooded north bank of the Ottawa River in 1850. The restored structure is furnished in period with original decor. A small stone chapel on the grounds contains the tombs of Papineau and other family members. Two other historical buildings are open to the public.

Guided tours are available in French and English. Note: The site is closed for conservation work and is scheduled to reopen in summer 2021.
