Grande Bibliothèque, 475 boul. de Maisonneuve Est (M: Berri-UQAM), is a major public library, part of the Bibliothèque et Archives Nationales du Québec (BAnQ), and the province's largest cultural institution. Offered in French and English, 60-minute self-guiding tours describe the collections—part of Québec's national archives—housed on-site as well as the library's history and mission. The contemporary building houses more than 3.5 million documents. A variety of cultural presentations, such as art exhibits, literary events and live performances, are held here periodically.
Le Square, which opened in 2016, is a digital laboratory aimed at ages 13-17, where they can learn about audio and visual creation, animation, robotics, 3-D printing and other technological advances or simply relax, read and play games.
